color coded notes

Added some CSS to my notebook entries to match the highlighters I use IRL!
Originally I wanted to use something like this in my blog, but I realized that it wouldn’t work with the color scheme etc. (Still trying to think of a better way to emphasize text than just bolding entire sentences, which feels like way too extra lol.)

I’m not sure how I want to implement them. I could use them in my diary for sure. Might start posting more “notes” and ideas etc too. Wanna brainstorm some critical theory ideas, so I could just word vomit shit and do things like that.
I have a sort of system in place when I read and annotate. Red is a main point, blue is the extrapolation, and yellow is any other pertinent information. It helps me keep ideas and theses straight while reading, so I can clearly keep track of how different ideas flow into each other and culminate.
Also it’s just visually pleasing to look at haha.

Here’s the same paragraph as above, color-coded according to my system of highlighting:
I have a sort of system in place when I read and annotate. Red is a main point, blue is the extrapolation, and yellow is any other pertinent information. It helps me keep ideas and theses straight while reading, so I can follow how different ideas flow into each other and culminate into larger concepts.
To recap:
- Red is a main point
- Blue is the extrapolation
- Yellow is any other pertinent information
I guess my issue is that I always want my “work” to be presentable. And that stems from the issue of turning everything I think or write about into “work”.
I envisioned this notebook to be just random daily entries and lists. Trying to do anything “serious” here feels “wrong” somehow. That’s supposed to be all organized and structured and stuff and posted on my blog with neat little subtitles. But that becomes its own fuckin thing—like, the reason I haven’t blogged since September isn’t because I haven’t written anything. I’m writing a ton of posts—but I’m putting way too much pressure on myself to make them perfect. So I don’t end up posting anything.
I suppose then that I need to find ways to let myself be messy and imperfect and word vomit and all that. So I guess my point is that I wanna write here more, and write different things, and let myself ramble and do whatever. Idk!! Just some thoughts. I mean, that’s what this “notebook” is for after all.
